Bike Nights is a free app that shows motorcycle meets and events in the United Kingdom. It is run by an individual, not a company. By using the app you accept these terms, which are deliberately short.

The information is a best effort, not a guarantee

Meets are compiled from a map maintained over several years, added to by riders, and events are checked against the organiser's own listing before publication, with the date of that check shown in the app. Even so, venues close, landlords change their minds, clubs stop running, and weather cancels things at short notice.

Please don't ride a long way on the strength of this app alone. If a meet matters to you, check with the venue or the organiser before setting off. Where a start time or schedule isn't confirmed, the app tells you so rather than guessing. Take that at face value.

Ride sensibly

Nothing in this app is an invitation to ride badly. Meets are usually in pub car parks, on seafronts and outside cafés, often in places where residents are already weary of engine noise. Whether these meets continue to exist depends largely on riders behaving well at them. Obey the law, respect the venue and its neighbours, and park considerately.

Accounts

You don't need an account to use the map. If you create one, it is through a code sent to your email address, it is yours alone, and you shouldn't let anyone else use it. You can delete it from inside the app whenever you like. See the privacy policy for exactly what that removes.

An account can be suspended if it is used to send in nonsense, abuse, or the same thing over and over. That does not stop you using the rest of the app. If you think a suspension is wrong, email me and I'll look at it properly.

Sending things in

Riders can add bike nights and events, correct details, and upload photos. Two things are asked of you in return.

Only send in what you actually know. If you're unsure of a start time, say so or leave it blank. The app is built to handle "unconfirmed" honestly, and a confident wrong answer sends someone on a wasted journey. That is the one thing this app exists to prevent, so please don't be the cause of it.

Only send in what's yours to send. For photos, that means you took it, or you have permission from whoever did, and that anyone clearly identifiable in it is happy to appear in an app. Please don't upload other people's photographs, artwork or logos.

By sending something in you give me permission to publish it in the app and on this site, to edit it for accuracy and length, and to keep it there. You keep ownership of your own photos. This is permission to use them, not a transfer. Nothing you send is published with your name attached.

What isn't acceptable

Everything sent in is read by a person before anyone else sees it, so this list is mostly a description of what gets rejected rather than what appears:

Anything offensive, hateful, threatening or harassing.
Advertising, promotion of unrelated businesses, or spam.
Anything encouraging illegal or dangerous riding.
Anything false, invented, or deliberately misleading.
Other people's personal information, including photographs of people who wouldn't want to be there.
Anything unlawful, or anything you don't have the right to share.

Submissions can be rejected, edited or removed at my discretion and without a reason being given, and an account that keeps at it can be suspended. There is a report button on every listing, and reports are read.

Liability

The app is provided as-is and free of charge. To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for loss, inconvenience or expense arising from information in the app being incomplete, out of date or wrong, such as a wasted journey to a meet that wasn't running. The same applies to anything contributed by another rider. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Other people's information

Venue names, event names and links to organisers' websites are included so riders can find and verify them. If you are an organiser or venue and would like your listing corrected or removed, email me and I will action it. There's no argument to be had about it. The same applies if you appear in a photo and would rather not.

Availability

This is a personal project. It may be updated, changed or withdrawn at any time, and there is no promise of continued availability or support.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
